Green Dot Public Schools automates 10,000+ students onboarding and offboarding with BetterCloud

The IT team at Green Dot Public Schools, headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, California, manages 1400+ staff and 10,000+ students.

Each team member at Green Dot wears many hats, which is why Tarah Valencia, Data Engineering Manager, has been managing student and faculty data, including onboarding and offboarding for these groups.

Onboarding and offboarding made easy

Before BetterCloud, all onboarding and offboarding for all 10,000+ students was done manually. As this was a difficult task, this lead to a huge mess when provisioning and deprovisioning accounts. Some accounts would be deactivated, but others fell through the cracks.

You can’t stay on top of that all manually.”
– Tarah Valencia, Data Engineering Manager, Green Dot Public Schools

In lieu of hiring additional team members to keep up, Green Dot Public Schools found BetterCloud.

Due to the complexities of differentiating onboarding and offboarding tasks for students versus faculty, Tarah and the team at Green Dot found particular use out of creating specific, custom workflows that answered this complexity. For example, when a staff member was leaving, files needed to be kept for a certain period of time versus students who had a different, more flexible policy.

Set it and forget it

After implementing BetterCloud, the team at Green Dot noticed the benefit immediately. Workflows were easy to set up and required little interaction to keep them up and running.

Another great benefit for Green Dot? Time savings found from not having to manually onboard and offboard made room for more strategic initiatives for the team to accomplish.
