App Awareness Month – Yesware
April 3, 2012

This post is part of App Awareness, our month-long series where we spotlight a different Google Apps Marketplace application every day in April. This week, we’re focusing on applications specifically geared to end-users and those that help streamline sales processes. The applications we chose to highlight demonstrate excellent integration with Google Apps, and we either use and love the product or know a lot of other people who do. Have a favorite Marketplace app of your own? Tweet it to @bettercloud.
Yesware – Email for Salespeople
For anyone that’s ever managed a team of salespeople, or for anyone that’s ever been in sales, the benefits of Yesware should be painfully obvious. Better tracking and reporting around all types of email that salespeople send, from prospecting to contracts, has lagged behind the general trend of tracking all things sales & marketing down to the most granular levels.
If marketers can easily understand how a change to a call-to-action on their website’s homepage affects the conversion rate, then salespeople should be able to determine what email messages resonate best with prospects. Yesware makes this possible.
Google Apps Integration
One of the best features of Yesware is its seamless integration with everyone’s favorite email client – Gmail. The application injects its code into your Gmail window (through a Chrome extension), giving you all of the added benefits of Yesware, without requiring you to ever deviate from your normal email habits. All you need to do is a check the relevant boxes when you send email, and use the templates if you wish.
My first thought when I installed Yesware was “well what if I’m sending email from my phone or my tablet?” Believe it or not, Yesware has you covered there, if you use an Android device. The Yesware mobile app allows you to utilize all of Yesware’s features from anywhere.
Why We Like It
By organizing email templates by the different stages of a typical sales cycle, Yesware presents a salesperson with an intuitive interface that’s easy to begin using immediately. Add in the fact that Yesware integrates with Salesforce and you have an application that saves time, provides better tracking for managers and also lets sales teams share successful strategies.
Yesware is also a great example of what becomes possible when you deliver software through the browser. A similar product for a desktop email client like Outlook would be much more complicated to deploy to your sales team, not to mention more expensive to develop, and thus more expensive to the buyer. With Yesware, it’s as easy as asking your staff to download the Chrome extension. While the app’s functionality is delivered through the Chrome browser, adding the application from the Google Apps Marketplace will give your users easy access to Yesware stats and reporting through the More dropdown. And if you’re using Chromebooks or have an enterprise deployment of Chrome, you can push this update out through an administrator console. Pricing is also very favorable. Most salespeople can likely get away with the free plan, but power users may need to upgrade to the $4.95/month plan.
Stay tuned for more of our favorite Apps in the Google Apps Marketplace!
Can you guess tomorrow’s app?
Hint: You might use this app to find time on the calendar of someone you just met
About App Awareness Month
At BetterCloud, we’ve seen first hand the impact Google Apps can have on a business: extreme cost cutting, streamlined management processes, enhanced collaboration and mobility and much more.
During our time as an independent software provider focused 100% on the Google Apps platform, we’ve interacted with thousands of organizations using Google Apps and we’ve discovered one common trend: knowledge and awareness of third-party applications that extend and enhance Google Apps is extremely limited.
This April, we’re devoting the BetterCloud blog to educating Google Apps users on the wide array of applications available for Google Apps today. These Google Apps extensions not only enhance native Google Apps functionalities, but bring a diverse range of services from CRM, to expense management, process and systems management and more to your Google Apps environment. More importantly, adding these applications to Google Apps allows you to retire expensive legacy software licenses and creates a more cohesive organization.
